Saturday 4th
December 2010: We will catch a morning ferry from Dover to Calais. After disembarking, we have a drive of about 220 miles, nearly all on motorway, to arrive at our campsite in the town of Valkenburg. Inexperienced drivers will be given the opportunity to “follow the leader”, while those with more confidence can make their own way to the campsite. The campsite has its own restaurant, and a further choice of restaurants is within 5 minutes walk. |

Sunday 5th
December 2010: The town of Valkenburg has its own, unique Christmas markets, held annually in two caves, within 10 minutes walk of the campsite. There are a huge variety of stalls selling Christmas items which may be familiar to you – along with some others which you may not recognize. The caves are open all day, so you can visit this wonderful spectacle whenever you wish throughout the day. This evening we will stroll into town and have good quality dinner in a typical Dutch restaurant. |

Tuesday 7th December 2010: A completely free day so that you can relax and explore the town of Valkenburg at your leisure – or re-visit the Christmas Market! |

Wednesday 8th December 2010: This morning we head back to Calais and go to theFranglais drinks outlet on the outskirts of Calais, where we will park up for the night. Franglais closes to the public at 19.00 and at 19.30 we will enter the wine & drinks store for a meal-sized finger-buffet with free wine tasting. Beer will also be available to drink at French prices. During the evening you can stroll around the shop and buy whatever you want from the huge selection at low, French prices. All major credit cards are accepted. Your purchases can be stored overnight for collection in the morning, so you needn’t clutter up your van overnight. No facilities are available, so you will need to use your motorhome’s toilet and shower etc. |

Thursday 9th December 2010: The port of Calais is less than 20 minute’s drive from Franglais, so you will have enough time for some last minute shopping at a superb indoor shopping centre near Calais, where virtually everybody speaks English, but the ambience is definitely French. We board the ferry for Dover at about lunchtime. |
