This tour has been planned to allow you to visit the beautiful regions of Bavaria. Not only do we visit the major places of interest, but we also take you to other, less famous, but fascinating places. This tour even includes a free afternoon at a fabulous, exotic water park where everybody, old or young, swimmers or non- swimmers, can have a great time. Germany is very "motorhome friendly" and many motorway service stations, as well as tourist areas, provide motorhome service points.
British motorhome owners love Bavaria, as it is not only very clean - as you would expect - but the natives are very friendly. It boasts beautiful mountain scenery, picturesque villages and historic towns, as well as excellent beer, good food and interesting wines. In fact, the only things missing are graffiti and litter.

Sunday 29th August 2010: We board the ferry at Dover this afternoon and enjoy a leisurely crossing to Calais with access to the Club Class lounge with free Champagne and coffee. We then drive into Belgium to stay overnight at a small campsite on the Franco-Belgian border. This evening everybody will have the opportunity to get to know each other at an informal drinks reception. |
| 2 |
Monday 30th August 2010: Today we have a drive of about 200 miles to our first German campsite on the outskirts of the beautiful village of Dahn. The campsite has its own friendly bar and restaurant and we will be treated to a typical bbq dinner. |
| 3 |
Tuesday 31st August 2010: We leave Dahn this morning and have a drive of about 150 miles to the lovely, historic town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. This is our first Bavarian campsite so we will celebrate with a group dinner in a restaurant right alongside the campsite |
| 4 |
Wednesday 2nd September 2010: Rothenburg is a beautiful small town and there is an easy walk from the campsite into the town centre. We suggest you visit the town at some time during the day as it will be a most enjoyable experience. |
| 5 |
Thursday 3rd September 2010: Another drive of about 130 miles brings us to our next Bavarian campsite, just outside the historic city of Augsburg. This campsite has its own restaurant, as well as a convenient supermarket just over the road. |
| 6 |
Friday 4th September 2010: This morning we will be taken by bus to thecentre of Munich for an English language city tour, including lunch in one of the famous Munich cellar restaurants. After lunch everybody will be free to explore this beautiful city at their leisure before being collected by the bus and returned to our motorhomes. |
| 7 |
Saturday 5th September 2010: A free day to relax before tonight’s activities. In the evening we will be collected by bus and taken to the Augsburg beerfestival, where we will spend the evening. German beer festivals are fun-filled events, designed not only for beer drinkers, but for the whole family to relax, drink beer, wine or soft drinks and listen to good quality live "fun" music. No discos here! We have included in the tour price as much beer, wine or soft drinks as you wish to drink and your choice of meal from the local specialities on offer. At the end of the evening, our bus will take us back to the motorhomes. |
| 8 |
Sunday 6th September 2010: Another free day at this pleasant campsite. If enough people want to make the trip, the tour director will organize a bus to the Dachau concentration camp, which has been maintained by the German government as a warning of what can happen if a country is governed by a dictatorship. We have not included Dachau in the full itinerary, as some people will find it distressing. It is only about 35 miles from our campsite. |
| 9 |
Monday 7th September 2010: We have a short drive today before arriving at our next stop-over, the fabulous Therme just south of Landsberg. The temperature inside the Therme is maintained at a semi-tropical level so it is comfortable to spend the whole time in your swimming costume. The main pool is not deep, so non-swimmers can comfortably use the facilities. The water is kept warm and included in the main pool is a cocktail bar where you can sit on stools which are about 1 foot under water and enjoy your drink at the bar. Also in the complex is a standard 25 metre swimming pool, various saunas and other aquatic fun items. You can get an idea of the whole thing by visiting their website www.therme-badwoerishofen.de. We have included a 4 hour session for everybody in the Therme, after which we will have a good quality dinner in the Therme’s restaurant. This evening we will stay in our motorhomes in the Therme’s car park, so you can enjoy a drink with your dinner if you wish. Obviously you will need to use your motorhome’s shower and toilet overnight. |
| 10 |
Tuesday 8th September 2010: A drive of about 70 miles will bring us to our next campsite, near the border town of Mittenwald. This site is considered by many to be the finest in Germany. It would be easy to make a small detour en-route to visit Neuschwanstein, which is one of Prince Ludwig’s “follies”. It was the basis for the fairy castles used in Walt Disney films. |
| 11 |
Wednesday 9th September 2010: We will be collected by bus this morning and taken into Mittenwald for a stroll around the lovely old town. We will also visit its world famous violin museum. After this we will go up the Karwendel mountain by cable car for a light lunch in its lovely restaurant with panoramic views. There will be time for a short stroll if you wish. After lunch we will descend the Karwendel and our bus will take us just over the border into Austria. We will be dropped off at the start of a beautiful 40 minute walk, including the Leutasch Gorge and our bus will await us at the end. The timing of 40 minutes is based on a leisurely stroll. Those who don’t want to walk can stay on the bus. At the end of the day we will be returned to our motorhomes. This evening we will have a group dinner in the campsite’s own excellent restaurant. |
| 12 |
Thursday 10th September 2010: Today’s drive is about 130 miles and will bring us to our next campsite set in the Alps. |
| 13 |
Friday 11th September 2010: You can see the “Eagles Nest” from the campsite, but today we will have the opportunity to visit it. This incredible mansion was a gift to Adolf Hitler from Martin Bormann and can only be reached by a special bus, followed by an elevator ride through the centre of the mountain. Once inside the "Eagles Nest” the views are simply magnificent. |
| 14 |
Saturday 12th September 2010: Today we leave Berchtesgaden and have a drive of about 40 miles to a simple campsite on the banks of the beautiful Chiemsee lake. This afternoon we will take a boat ride to explore the lake and visit one of Prince Ludwig’s famous castles on an island. This evening we will have our farewell dinner in a lovely restaurant next door to the campsite. It will be accompanied by copious quantities of beer and wine! |
| 15 |
Sunday 13th September 2010: The tour ends today. Remember, you can take yourtime returning home if you wish, as your ferry ticket is valid for 60 days. |
