This 4 week tour has been planned to allow participants to visit virtually all of the main sights of Germany. Unfortunately, it will be impossible to see everything in this period, but if there is a specific place you would like to visit while you are on the tour, please tell us when you make your booking and we will do our best to arrange for you to visit it. The itinerary includes visits to Cologne, Rudesheim, Rothenburg, Augsburg, Munich, Dachau, Chiemsee, Karwendel, Black Forest, Nuremburg, Dresden,
Colditz Castle, Berlin, Hamburg, and Hamelin.

Friday 27th August 2010: A hotel room near Dusseldorf airport has been reserved for everybody to recover from jet-lag in their own way. No dinner has been booked, but a full breakfast is included for tomorrow morning. |

Saturday 28th August 2010: After breakfast tour members will be taken to a nearby campground where their rented motorhomes will await. After a comprehensive tutorial everybody can start to become familiar with their vehicle and we will then visit a local supermarket to stock up on food etc. This evening we will have an informal drinks reception so everybody can get to know each other. |

Sunday 29th August 2010: This morning we will be collected by a bus with an expert guide for a combined bus/walking tour of Cologne. The tour will include the famous Cathedral and the 4711 house, where Eau de Cologne was first made. |

Monday 30th August 2010: We drive south to Rudesheim today and our campground in on the River Rhine. This evening we will be taken by bus to the world-famous Drosselgasse, which is a narrow street full of restaurants – all competing with different types of live music. We will have a typical local dinner in one of the better restaurants before heading back to our motorhomes for a good night’s sleep. |

Tuesday 31st August 2010: We have a ride on the River Rhine today to one of the many lovely villages alongside the river. After a few hours to stroll around at your leisure we will catch the boat back to Rudesheim. A pleasant, relaxing day |

Wednesday 1st September 2010: We continue heading south today to the lovely old town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Our campground is within walking distance of the historic town centre. |

Thursday 2nd September 2010: This morning we have a short walking tour of the town of Rothenburg - enough to build an appetite for lunch! |

Friday 3rd September 2010: We continue into southern bavaria and will reach our campground just outside the historic city of Augsburg. This campsite has its own restaurant, as well as a convenient supermarket just across the road. |

Saturday 4th September 2010: We will be collected by bus this morning and taken to the Dachau concentration camp. This camp has been kept and renovated by the German authorities to show what can happen in a dictatorship. Some people may find certain aspects of the camp disturbing, but this is part of the reason for its existence today.
After we have returned to the campground we will be collected by bus and taken to the Augsburg beerfestival, where we will spend the evening. German beer festivals are fun-filled events, designed not only for beer drinkers, but for the whole family to relax, drink beer, wine or soft drinks and listen to good quality live "fun" music. No discos here! We have included in the tour price as much beer, wine or soft drinks as you wish to drink and your choice of meal from the local specialities on offer.
At the end of the evening, our bus will take us back to the motorhomes.

Sunday 5th September 2010: This morning we will be taken by bus to thecentre of Munich for an English language city tour, including lunch in one of the famous Munich cellar restaurants. After lunch everybody will be free to explore this beautiful city at their leisure before being collected by the bus and returned to our motorhomes. |

Monday 6th September 2010: We have a short drive today to the Chiemsee, which is a lake to the east of Munich. This evening we will have a dinner in the great restaurant alongside the lake and right next door to the campground. |

Tuesday 7th September 2010: After a restful morning we will take a boat ride to explore the lake and visit one of Prince Ludwig’s famous castles on an island. |

Wednesday 8th September 2010: A drive of about 100 miles will bring us to our next campsite, near the border town of Mittenwald. This site is considered by many to be the finest in Germany. |

Thursday 9th September 2010: This morning we will go up the Karwendel mountain by cable car for a light lunch in its lovely restaurant with panoramic views. There will be time for a short stroll if you wish.
After lunch we will descend the Karwendel and our bus will take us just over the border into Austria. We will be dropped off at the start of a beautiful 40 minute walk, including the Leutasch Gorge and our bus will await us at the end. The timing of 40 minutes is based on a leisurely stroll. Those who don’t want to walk can stay on the bus. At the end of the day we will be returned to our motorhomes. |

Friday 10th September 2010: We have a scenic drive today to our campground in the Black Forest. En route it will be possible to visit the famous castle at Neuschwanstein. This "fairy-tale" structure is the castle which Walt Disney used as the basis for many of the castles seen in his films. |

Saturday 11th September 2010: We have an excursion today which will take us around the Black Forest and visit the famous cuckoo clock manufacturers as well as having a lunch in a beautiful restaurant almost hidden in the forest. |

Sunday 12th September 2010: We head north today, but still remain in Bavaria. Our destination is the old town of Nuremburg, which Hitler used for many of his floodlit mass rallies - and where the Nazi war criminals were tried. |

Monday 13th September 2010: We have a tour of the city of Nuremburg this morning. This lovely old city has many attractive features as well as its notorious past. |

Tuesday 14th September 2010: We continue north east and will reach our next campground at Moritzburg, near to Dresden. |

Wednesday 15th September 2010: We will be collected this morning and taken into the city of Dresden where an English speaking guide will show us around the city. Dresden was almost completely flattened during the second world war and its recovery has been incredible. After a light lunch we will be left to explore on our own until the bus collects us at about 16.30. |

Thursday 16th September 2010: This morning we will be collected by bus and taken to see Colditz Castle. We have arranged for an English language tour of this most famous castle in Germany. After a traditional lunch we will be returned to our campground. |

Friday 17th September 2010: Our drive today will bring us to our campground in the city of Berlin, the capital of Germany. |

Saturday 18th September 2010: This morning we will be collected from the campground by bus and taken for an English language tour of the city of Berlin. A typical Berlin lunch will be provided, before continuing the tour in the afternoon. At the end of a long day we will be taken back to our motorhomes. |

Sunday 19th September 2010: There is a lot to see in Berlin, so today we will have another city tour with lunch included. |

Monday 20th September 2010: A day to relax after the last 2 days of serious sightseeing. This evening we will take a pleasant stroll to a typical Berlin restaurant. It will be a great evening! |

Tuesday 21st September 2010:
We head north today to the port city of Hamburg. Those who want to can make a detour to visit the remains of the Nazi concentration camp at Bergen-Belsen.

Wednesday 22nd September 2010: We have a tour of the city of Hamburg today with an English speaking guide. Lunch will be taken in a local restaurant. Like Dresden, this city was virtually destroyed during the second world war. |

Thursday 23rd September 2010: We head south today to our campground near the city of Hamelin. |

Friday 24th September 2010: We will have a tour of this old town in the morning and will see the scene of the "Pied Piper" story. This evening we will have our farewell dinner in the campsite's own restaurant. |

Saturday 25th September 2010: The tour ends this morning and the motorhomes will be returned to the rental company. After all the usual checks have been completed the group will be taken back to a hotel near Dusseldorf airport. |
