Both the Austrian & Swiss motorways operate “vignette” systems to collect tolls. In both countries the standard car vignette will cover your motorhome unless it has a maximum laden weight of over 3.5 tons. If you are in Switzerland and your motorhome has a maximum laden weight of over 3.5 tons you will need a special vignette even to use normal roads. These can be bought per day or per month. If you are in Austria and your motorhome has a maximum laden weight of over 3.5 tons you will need to purchase a “go” box from the sales person and then pay for the amount of kilometres you expect to travel on Austrian motorways. If your “go” box “runs out” of kilometres you will be notified by an audible signal and you can buy extra kilometres at the next service area.
